Founded in 1959, within weeks of the Dalai Lama’s escape from Tibet following a uprising against China’s occupation, Tibet Society became the world’s first ever Tibet support group. His Holiness is a patron of Tibet Society and after more than 50 years the organisation continues to strive for the freedom of the Tibetan people and their right to self-determination.
In the run up the the UK General Election on 7 May, Tibet Society is promoting a “Vote Tibet 2015” campaign to encourage parliamentary candidates to pledge their support human rights for Tibetans in Tibet.
